The Multiple Seeds of God

By Wendell Tenison

  • The creation of seeds

In the beginning of creation by the ordinance and will of God, he made seeds for the reproduction of the foods for mankind which is the sustenance of life - Moreover, later through the centuries, God created by means of his other seed, his word, a spiritual man who would be distinct from all others - On the third day of creation, God caused the green grass to grow, the herb yielding seed and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself and God saw that it was good

Gen 1:11-12 "And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so......And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good."

At the beginning, God did not allow meat to be eaten until after the flood

Gen 1:29 "And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat."

In addition to the word of God not being seed only, there are other characteristics of which no man can explore the depth, power and magnitude of the Majestic Supreme Being - Noted here are only some of the wide spectrum of the Creator's word - will judge, John 12:48; preserver of heaven and earth, 2 Peter 3:5; will never pass away, Luke 21:33; cleanser, John 15:3; framed the worlds, Hebrews 11:3; sword of the Spirit, Ephesians 6:17; sanctifier, 1 Timothy 4:5; fire and hammer, Jeremiah 23:29; is inspired, 2 Timothy 3:16; power of God, Romans 1:16

  • The code of life within life

Many thanks to Paul Tenison, Sr. Chemical Engineer, Eagle River, Alaska, for providing excerpts from his work entitled "The Godhead in Creation" - Also a special thanks to Eldon Ferrell, International Crop Advisor, Leedy, Oklahoma, for his expertise in agriculture and advice of how seeds function

The genetic code of every living creature is stored in complex molecules of DNA and RNA that contain the creatures genes - DNA (the genetic reproductive blueprint or seed) ensures that like begets like, thus, DNA is indeed "the seed within the seed"

The makeup of the seed is that it has a body of which the outer part is the coat - Within it is the endosperm that is food for the embryo and with sufficient water and a warmer temperature the embryo will grow and bust through the seed coat - The primary chemical in the embryo is starch

The sprouting of the embryo by making roots is called germination - After this a process called photosynthesis occurs that is the biological synthesis of chemical compounds in the presence of light

Our Lord illutrates the kingdom of God with great power such as the smallest of all seeds, the mustard

Mark 4:30-32 "And he said, Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God? or with what comparison shall we compare it .....It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth:.....But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it."

Unlike the seed, the pollen grain, pre-pollen and spore is the sperm that pollinates the plant. The pollen is the reproductive compound of a flowering plant and the spore of an unflowering - Like the seed, the pollen grain has an outer hard shell, next, food for the heart and the heart itself - The heart of the pollen is fingernail like substance and is preserved.

Next, we come to asexual vs. sexual reproduction - All created forms of life produce either asexually or sexually - In asexual reproduction, each living creature passes its complete DNA code to its offspring as in cloning

In sexual reproduction, the male and female each contributes half of the genetic information to form the DNA of their offspring - Therefore, the male and female are half seeds, except that God's seed is not half, but whole

  • Jesus Christ, the only begotten seed of the Almighty Father

As the Father has life within himself, so has he given the Son to have life within himself

John 3:18 "He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."

John 5:26 "For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;"

Jesus said, he is the way the truth (word) and life - Is God Almighty the Father asexual - The answer is an educated guess - His begetting of his Son would be like taking a piece of cotton candy and pulling off a part - The smaller piece would be identical in every way except it is smaller

John 14:6 "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

Jesus Christ is the Logos (the Word) which has to do with the mind and his power of thought - Another way to put it is that he is the word of God within the word as he is life within life

John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."

Two examples of his power as the Logos is when he said, which of you by taking thought can add one cubit to his stature - The other is when the Roman Centurion said, you do not have to come to my house, but speak the word only

Mat 6:27 "Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?"

Mat 8:8 "The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed."

Christ is the seed within the seed or the spiritual blueprint within the word of God - In him dwells all of the fulness of the Godhead bodily

Col 2:9 "For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily."

God gave Jesus Christ a name that is above every name and that is the epitome of the Logos

Rev 19:13 "And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God."

The Logos or the Word, the Son of God was with the Father before the world was

John 17:5 "And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was."

  • The introduction of the laws of reproduction both natural and spiritual

Evidently, the idea of reproduction came with God Almighty reproducing his Son from himself - Moreover, from here God laid the blueprint for the reproduction of seeds upon the earth as well as all other living creatures - The blueprint for reproduction came at the creation of all things in the beginning of the world - Soon after the creation of Adam and Eve, the laws of reproduction became in motion

God Almighty was the first prophet upon the earth when he told the serpent that he would put enmity between his seed (devil) and the seed of the woman (Christ) - The seed of the serpent (devil) would bruise the heel of the seed of the woman (Christ), but the seed of the woman (Christ) would bruise the head of the seed of the serpent (devil)

Gen 3:15 "And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel."

After millenniums went by, the seed of the woman (Christ) came to the earth to introduce the second phase of God's reproductive blueprint, but this time of a spiritual nature - That is, making a way for men to become the sons of God spiritually

It must be recognized that the Son of God, Jesus the Christ and Adam are the only two that can be rightly called the sons of God

Luke 3:38 "Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God."

Genetic implications of the birth of Christ who has life within himself, replicated his own divine personality into the perfect male seed to join with the seed of the woman

When Jesus Christ was born into the world, his Father was heavenly, his mother earthly and this conception was formed by the Holy Spirit - This is why our Lord is sometimes called the Son of God and others the son of man

Adam is called the first man and the second man is the Lord from heaven - The first Adam was made a living soul and the last Adam (Christ) was made a quickening spirit

1 Cor 15:45-49 "And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit......Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual......The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven......As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly......And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly."

  • Divine pattern for the seed of God (his word) to reproduce spiritual sons unto himself

In the parable of the sower, the seed is the word of God - The words of Jesus are spirit and life, therefore, the seed of God contains the genetic blueprint for spiritual reproduction

Luke 8:11 "Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God."

John 6:63 "It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life."

Spiritual reproduction can be viewed as asexusal or sexual - actually, spiritual reproduction is extra-sexual which means it operates outside and beyond the limitations of sexual distinctions

The light of Christ shines into the heart to produce the photosynthesis to cause the seed after sprouting to flourish and leaf which is the new creature in Christ

2 Cor 5:17 "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."

2 Cor 4:6 "For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ."

1 Tim 6:15-16 "Which in his times he shall show, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;.....Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen."

On the other hand, the god of this world has blinded the minds of those who believe, lest the light of the glorious gospel should shine unto them

2 Cor 4:4 "In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them."

Note that God, depicted as "he" and "him" (masculine gender), creates male and female (both sexes) in "his" image - Thus it is appropriate to refer to the "sexual" aspect of spiritual reproduction in the terms of gender (masculine or feminine), rather than sex (male or female) - But, again we see that spiritual reproduction is extra-sexual

The new creature is both masculine (as an adopted son of God for the purpose of inheritance) and also feminine (as a member of his body for the purpose of submission to her spiritual husband)

  • Spiritual application of the base princples of reproduction

The word of God is the seed and contains the complete genetic code within itself

The "asexual" character of spiritual reproduction - In Luke 8:5-15 (also Mark 4:2-20), the word of God is likened to a seed that is planted in the ground - Such a seed contains the complete genetic code within itself - The ground (likened to man's heart) has no seed of its own to contribute - It is simply a nourshing environment within which the complete seed can germinate to bring forth new life of itself

Isa 55:10-11 "For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:.....So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it."

We are begotten by the word of God and the Holy Spirit performs this operation - The meaning of the Greek New Testament word for "operation" is used only in the New Testament as super human power whether by God or the devil, Thayer, page 215

Col 2:12 "Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead."

1 Cor 12:13 "For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit."

James 1:18 "Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures."

We are born of an incorruptible seed as opposed to the devil corrupting the seed of God and making children of his own from it, such as the Scribes and Pharisees

1 Pet 1:23-25 "Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever......For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:.....But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you."

John 8:42-44 "Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me......Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word......Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it."

The word of God (seed) has an outer shell that is alive and sharper than any two-edged sword and is able to pierce even to the dividing of soul and spirit and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart

Heb 4:12 "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."

When the good seed (word of God) is sown into the heart, with some, the wicked one catches it away and others, persecution and the cares of this life choke the seed from its growth - On the other hand, some overcome all of the trials and tribulations and bear much fruit

Mat 13:19-23 "When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side......But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;.....Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended......He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful......But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty."

The embryo of the masculine seed is truth or the word of God - The embryo of the feminine seed is faith - The masculine seed and the feminine seed must combine or commingle to bring forth the new creature - This is illustrated in Paul's letter to the Hebrews as to how the Jews were left out of spiritual reproduction, because the feminine seed was missing - To understand this we only find the word faith two times in the Old Testament, Deuteronomy 32:20, Habakkuk, 2:4 and two hundred forty five times in the New Testament

Heb 4:2 "For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it."

It was not until the coming of Christ that the feminine seed of faith was introduced having been hidden since the foundation of the world as the necessary one half of the spiritual reproduction formula. In the latter verses, notice in particular the words faith in Jude 1:3; Gal.3:23, 24, 25, are nouns.

Jude 1:3 "Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints."

Gal 3:22-25 "But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe......But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed......Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith......But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster."

Rom 3:22 "Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:"

James 2:1 "My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons."

Gal 2:16 "Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified."

Gal 2:20 "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me."

Phil 3:9 "And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:"

Faith is the fulfillment of the one religion inaugurated by Christ. The question is often asked, of what faith are you? The apostle Paul makes it very clear that there is only one faith. The above verses establishes that faith is of Christ. Therefore, Christ, replicates his own DNA into the new creature (Christian), by way of the male and feminine seeds truth and faith.

Eph 4:5 "One Lord, one faith, one baptism,"

Since the embryo of the masculine seed is the word of God and the feminine faith, they are both fed from the endosperm by the power of God, that is the truth

John 17:17 "Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth."

1 Cor 2:5 "That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God."

2 Cor 6:7 "By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left,"

The seed of the masculine (word of God) and the seed of the feminine (faith) are the same kind - As like begets like (after their kind), their offspring (new man in Christ) bears the same image

1 John 1:1 "That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;"

2 Cor 3:18 "But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord."

Gal 4:6 "And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father."

Now about the Christian's mother, who is she - We are told by the apostle Paul that Jerusalem which above is the mother of us all

Paul identifies our spiritual mother as the free "Jerusalem which is above" - She is also called "the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem" (Hebrews 12:22) - Zechariah calls her a "city of truth" - Thus, from James 1:18, our (spiritual Father has begotten us by the "word of truth" (our spiritual mother)

Gal 4:26 "But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all."

Zec 8:3 "Thus saith the LORD; I am returned unto Zion, and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem: and Jerusalem shall be called a city of truth; and the mountain of the LORD of hosts the holy mountain."

In short, faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God - Our Lord said of the Father, thy word is truth - Therefore, heavenly Jerusalem the city of truth provides the feminine seed through the truth and results in like kind begetting like kind

Rom 10:17 "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."

The apostle Paul planted and Apollos watered and God gave the increase - There is not that much difference in the natural and spiritual reproduction

1 Cor 3:6 "I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase."

There is only one way by which spiritual children are produced, that is, by the wife of our Lord, bearing fruit to his glory

Rom 7:4 "Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God."

The good seed as opposed to the seed of the devil are the children of God

Mat 13:38 "The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;"

The new offspring fathered by God the Father and by the seeds of his word and faith, has an advantage over all others in the world in that he now is in covenant relationship with God, Christ and Holy Spirit, that he learns how not to practice sin

1 John 3:9 "Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God."

The Interlinear Greek - English New Testament reads as follows: "Not anyone (lit. everyone) that has been begotten of God practises sin, because his seed in him abides, and he is not able to sin, because of God he has been begotten."

This means that some do sin, but he who is begotten of God and remains faithful does not practice sin.

Thayer's rendition of the words "practise" and "not able", pages 584, 617 - "Whatever possesses vital force or life giving power, the Holy Spirit, the divine energy operating within the soul by which we are regenerated or made the children or begotten by the virtue of God's promise."
